Comments: Grinding pepper has a very clear purpose – you get the most flavor from freshly ground peppercorns. The longer ground pepper sits, the less it tastes like pepper.

Is the same true of salt? No. Freshly ground salt and salt that was pulverized months ago taste the same.

Why then, are we in love with this salt mill from the CIA Masters Collection? We really don't have a good answer, beyond the powdery grains of salt that it snows down on our dishes, and how good it feels when we are grinding our salt, and how attractive it is.

This salt mill features a ceramic grinding mechanism that has been engineered to produce an excellent grind quality, and adjusts from fine to coarse with an easy-to-use exterior grind adjustment knob that holds the setting until you change it. The built-in funnel at the top accommodates all sizes of salt. It features a brushed stainless steel body that is gently shaped for a comfortable grip for grinding and is certainly attractive enough for most table settings.

Some timid people may be concerned that grains of salt will fall out on their lovely tablecloths when they set the salt mill back down, but those people have the option of putting the mill down with the grinding mechanism pointing up to avoid even the hint of spilling.

We know we don't have to grind our salt. But with this salt mill, we just like doing it.
